Allotment haul 29 March

Dodged the showers to grab this haul. Now I can't decide between purple-sprouting broccoli in cheese sauce, or broccoli stir-fry. Either way it's going to be delicious!

That's looking good, and what a haul. I haven't grown psb before, but I'm going to have a go at it this year. It's nice to have something so tasty to harvest at this time of the year.

I'm jealous, I had broccoli tonight but mine came from the freezer, much better when fresh. Mind you it won't be long now, our snow has nearly gone, we can see ground. Just need a few days dry and I will be able to go and see what has survived for nearly three months under snow.

Jo - it's a great haul, and we are eating it as fast as we can pick it. Without our purple sprouting we'd have nothing to harvest at all from the plot!

Tanya - we had stir fry. Very tasty.

Joanna - whenever you post I feel amazed at your weather conditions. You must be a very good grower indeed!

I don't think it is the fact that I am a good grower but we do have the advantage of an intense season of good growing conditions. We have so much light and the weather is often better in summer than the UK and it is just a matter of taking advantage of that.

Delicious! I tried to start purple sprouting broccoli last fall, and the earwigs ate all of my seedlings but left my other broccolis alone. It must be super sweet!

Christina - yes that's not uncommon, they will eat the white calabrese seedlings too, but not cabbages or kale or Brussels sprouts - you'll know better this year!

Joanna - I'm sure you'll overtake us pretty soon and then I'll be envying you.
